Week 8 - Final Review

Final Review

Looking back over this semester I have realized that taking an idea and turning into something tangible takes more than money and the product itself.  It takes an understanding of what is behind the scenes to make this idea come to life and who are responsible for the creation of the various steps along the way.

I hope that someday my idea for an app on Smartphones will take hold but it has to draw enough interest from many people.  That takes a lot of work on getting that “idea” out to the public by blogging about it, or setting up a website and making people want this product.  Then by generating interest is when the idea takes hold and real progress is born.

Technology is a wonderful tool when it is used properly and the general knowledge of what makes it tick is understood.  Don’t forget to stay safe while using certain aspects of technology, not only for you but for your customers.  Following the simple steps in Week 6 - How safe are you? to keep you and your customers free from harm.

Thanks for men like Steve Jobs, our world is at our fingertips.  He was a genius and a visionary.  He will be missed in the Technology world for certain.  Goodbye, and I hope you have enjoyed my blog for my class IST 195.

Week 7 - Blog Review

Blog Review

Inside Out CafĂ© http://margekatherine.com/ is a mixture of everything.  One day it could be a personal thought, the next it could be political, it could be thought provoking, spiritual, energetic, and something that makes you laugh or cry.

At the beginning of the year,  Marge started what she calls “No Comfort Zone Challenge” which makes people do something out of their comfort zone.  Whether it talk to strangers, give a presentation in front of a large group, roller blade, take a class, go on a date, go hiking, try a new food, well you get the idea…She has had many people join her blog and join this challenge.   It has really given people the courage to step out and try something new and and something different that they would never have attempted before.   It seems that most people that have tried this like it and are looking forward to the next challenge.  Me being one of them.  Thanks Marge!!

Week 6 - How safe are you?

Security
I talked about identity theft in an earlier blog but today I want to discuss sending information from your computer or mobile devices.

Understand nothing is full proof but taking measures to be conscious about what you’re doing and how you’re doing it could save so many headaches later on.

Varies uses of encryption can protect consumers internets and networks.  Encryption converts readable data into unreadable characters to prevent unauthorized access.  Most encryption keys use a combination of algorithms.

  •      Digital signature – an encrypted code that a person, website or organization attaches to an electronic message to verify the identity of the sender.
  •         Digital certificate – a notice that guarantees a user or a website is legitimate.
  •         Transport Layer Security (TLS) – provides encryption of all data that passes between a client and an internet server.
  •         Secure HTTP – this allows an encryption scheme for data that passes between a client and a server.
  •         Virtual Private Network (VPN) – Mobile users can access company networks through VPN.
